Digital production and distribution technologies are dramatically increasing the productivity of the film sector and the demand for movies. This increased supply of films has created greater demand for financing, however, the film financing market remains highly inefficient.
Competition for financing, the complexity of deal structures, and the greater number of films seeking distribution has created the need for sophisticated decision support services. Film Analytics is setting out to provide the film industry with highly sophisticated forecasting and thereby improve the efficiency of the market.
We believe that the time has come for sophisticated revenues forecasts to become a standard part of the motion picture production, sales, and distribution process. Our mission is to provide the film industry with the most comprehensive and accurate forecasts possible.
Film Analytics is headed by Dev Sen, a rocket scientist, and René Bastian, an award-winning independent film producer.
Dev Sen is a rocket scientist who, prior to co-founding Film Analytics, worked for nearly a decade at SAIC consulting to NASA on the design of next-generation spacecraft and launch vehicles. Dev is expert in applying advanced statistical methods and algorithms to complex problems, and in managing the development of state-of-the-art analytic models and software.
During his tenure at SAIC, Dev worked on many NASA programs including the Exploration Systems Architecture Study (ESAS), for which he managed the launch vehicle safety and reliability analysis. ESAS led to the formation of the Constellation Program and the flight of the Ares-1X.
Dev has a keen interest in film and realized the potential of applying predictive technologies to increase efficiency in the world of film financing, sales and distribution.
René Bastian is an award-winning Independent Film Producer, and President and founder of Belladonna Productions, a New York City based motion picture and commercial production company. For nearly twenty years, René has been producing critically and commercially successful films such as L.I.E., A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints, Transamerica, and the US version of Funny Games.
In addition to his production work René is co-founder of BD3, a digital content distribution platform.
